Through Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), the government headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo will promote the petrochemical sector, Altagracia Gómez Sierra, coordinator of the Regional Council for Relocation, assured industrialists.

When participating in the 56th National Forum of the Chemical Industry, the businesswoman who will be the link between the private sector and the federal administration commented that the National Energy Plan (PNE) will clarify many doubts for businessmen.

One of the big bets to generate more added value in the traditional hydrocarbon sector is petrochemicals. In that sense, Pemex has a long tradition of petrochemical excellence that must be recovered and reinforced.said Gómez Sierra.

According to specialists, petrochemicals multiply the value of crude oil by up to five times by transforming it into derivatives.

The President indicated in the document 100 steps to transformation and he reiterated on October 1, when he took office, that a priority of his administration would be to increase national production of petrochemicals and fertilizers.

He commented that in conversations with representatives of the chemical industry they have agreed that petrochemicals is one of Pemex’s big betsso more details on this topic will be released soon.

The Work Plan of the Ministry of Economy (SE), a department that will be very close to the council coordinated by Gómez Sierra, established in one of its sections that the energy sector is one of the priority industries.

In addition to this, both the SE and the Ministry of Energy maintain working groups on energy matters, and on Tuesday they met with a large part of the representatives of the private initiative.

On the other hand, Gómez Sierra commented that the PNE is about to come outwhich will allow the businessmen grouped in the National Association of the Chemical Industry to clear concerns about the direction we will follow in the coming years, in the short, medium and long term.

The businesswoman also highlighted that this secondary activity provides inputs to almost all productive chains, such as agribusiness, the clothing chain, footwear, textiles, clothing, painting, automotive, in addition to participating in the energy transition.
