Trains stopped, the strike is underway after the attack on a train conductor

Day of protest and inconvenience for rail transport in Italy. The eight-hour national strike by staff began at 9am Trenitalia, Trenitalia Tper, Fs Security, Italo Ntv and Trenord. Mobilization proclaimed after the stabbing of a train conductor on board the Genoa-Busalla regional train, near the Rivarolo station.

The protest, which will continue until 5pm, was proclaimed by the trade unions Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Ugl Ferrovieri, Fast Confsal and Orsa Trasporti. These groups also rejected the Guarantor’s appeal inviting them to reduce the strike.

 

Delays and cancellations

The consequences were immediate. By monitoring the status of departures at the main Italian stations, numerous trains have already been cancelled. From Milan Centrale numerous trains were skipped: such as the high speed trains to Naples at 09.58, 11.25 and 11.58, those to Turin at 11.10, to Reggio Calabria at 11.10 and to Venice at 11.45.

Ma even the regional ones for Brescia (10.25), Bergamo (11.05), Tirano (11.05), the connection to Zurich (11.10) and trains to Malpensa airport at 10.25 and 10.55. At Rome Termini there are train delays of 10 to 70 minutes. Even in the capital there are cancellations such as the 10.05 Italo train to Milan, the 10.22 Intercity to Trieste and the 10.42 regional to Civitavecchia.
