Energy reform will guarantee fair rates, assures CFE

The energy reform, which returns the status of a public company to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), guarantees fair energy rates and the planning of the National Electric System (SEN), said the general director of the state company, Emilia Calleja Alor.

During the 66th ordinary session of the board of directors, which was chaired by the head of the Ministry of Energy (Sener), Luz Elena González Escobar, Calleja Alor commented that with the decree published on October 31, the public company aims to goal to fulfill its social responsibility and make public electricity service affordable.

The general director of the state company highlighted that article 25 of the Constitution states that secondary laws will define the administration, organization, operation and contracting procedures and other legal acts.

Calleja Alor explained that the CFE will always have prevalence, which is why in the areas of generation and commercialization of electrical energy, private parties will be able to participate, always with adherence to the purposes of social and national development.

The general director of the CFE highlighted that the Internet service provided by the State will not be considered a monopoly, and with regard to CFE Telecommunications and Internet for All, the ties to enter the commercial field may be eliminated.

Calleja Alor celebrated the exclusivity of the State for the control and planning of the SEN, the network through which the energy generated in the country is transmitted and distributed.

The official stressed that the CFE has supported, at the request of the Presidency of the Republic, several of the priority projects, such as the works to electrify 44 percent of the Mayan Train in a record time of 12 months; the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, as well as engineering and supervision work to install a substation and transmission lines at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), for an amount of 71 million pesos.

In addition, he said, the state company participates in the recovery of the bodies of the miners trapped in Pasta de Conchos and El Pinabete, in Coahuila.

We are implementing an electrification program as social support, regularly associated with large infrastructure works or construction works of thermoelectric or hydroelectric plants. This involves 657 works with an approximate investment of 692 million pesossaid Alor Calleja.
