“Cybersecurity issue” at Ahold Delhaize in US

The Dutch-Belgian supermarket group Ahold Delhaize has identified a “cybersecurity problem” in the United States. The parent company of Delhaize, Albert Heijn and online store Bol announced this on Friday evening.

In a brief statement, Ahold Delhaize said it “recently” identified a “cybersecurity issue” on its US networks. “Our security teams immediately launched an investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity experts,” it said. “We have also informed the law enforcement authorities.”

The retailer is active in the US with chains Food Lion, Giant, Hannaford and Stop&Shop. He is now taking steps to “assess and mitigate” the problem. In addition, the company will have to take some systems offline, which will disrupt certain services in the US, including some pharmacies and some e-commerce activities. However, all shops remain open, it said.
