On tuesday November 19 completes the bank merger process that began with the purchase of the Argentine business of Itaú bank by Banco Macro in August of last year. The clients, who have been operating under the Macro BMA brand for twelve months, will become part of Macro directly. This process involves the integration of 1,300,000 accounts and will allow Jorge Brito’s entity strengthen its customer portfolio with 6 million accounts.
Francisco Muro, distribution and sales manager of Banco Macro, explained that what will happen from Tuesday of next week is the result of a process that took more than a year and that involved redesign of the former Itaú branches, which first operated under the Macro BMA brand. “Basically what this implies is that today, after the authorization of the purchase of the former Banco Itaú, two banks began to operate in parallel, on the one hand, Banco Macro and BMA Macro; from next weekend the merger will be completed operational and all BMA clients begin to operate with all the products, with all the channels, with the apps, with the chat bank, with everything that this Macro Bank makes available to them.
“We strengthen our network of branches and in-person customer service channels, especially in the AMBA, where We went from having 63 to 114 branches“Muro detailed and explained that the merger of both entities did not imply the closure of branches, something that usually occurs in this type of process, but rather the redesign of the customer service proposal. “We are deepening the model and segmenting the care models. In some places we have branches that are very close, there we went from serving only individuals to also specializing in serving business clients. The idea is not to lose any type of opportunity to contact customers.”
Regarding the virtual relationship of the client with the bank, there are things that will be modified starting next Tuesday the 19th. Current BMA clients can now begin downloading the Banco Macro app to be able to operate freely with it from that date. In addition, you can now consult through the Macro service channel on Whatsapp what will be your new account numbers and the new corresponding Uniform Bank Codes (CBU).
The entity clarified that there are products that change names from one bank to another, but that the agreed characteristics remain intact. Anyway, It will not be necessary to do any procedure other than registering in the Macro digital channels. This information becomes relevant among those who have a salary account or an account where pensions are collected and in neither of these two cases will this type of client have to carry out any procedure and the assets will be credited to the new Macro account.
“We work hard to welcome these new clients.“, assured Muro and detailed: “We added digital service channels, we reinforced service in the branches. “We improved our product offering, in many cases we expanded the limits that already existed on credit cards and we worked hard to strengthen our benefits proposal.”
