Israeli importer Samline will repair 16,600 Samsung refrigerators at its own expense

As part of the compromise agreement reached by Samsung and its official importer in Israel Samline with the plaintiffs in the representative action, Samline will repair 16,600 refrigerators at customers’ homes.

The cost of repairs is estimated at 95 million shekels.

Also, as part of the lawsuit, the group “Victims of Samsung refrigerators in Israel,” which operated on the social network Facebook, will be closed.

The plaintiffs argued that Samsung’s refrigerators had fundamental defects that required correction. In turn, the manufacturer and importer argued that these were ordinary breakdowns in refrigerators that did not indicate a defect in production.

The agreement will apply to all Samsung refrigerators sold in Israel between April 18, 2012 and October 27, 2024, which are not covered by the warranty and suffer from one of the breakdowns included in the agreement.

Failures include moisture accumulation in or under the fruit and vegetable drawers, ice forming in various parts of the refrigerator, blocking the ability to open the ice compartment, rust and paint peeling on the refrigerator doors.

To obtain the right to repair or replace (if it is not possible to repair) the refrigerator, its owner must contact the company and present the purchase receipt no later than January 27, 2025.

The plaintiffs also received 120 thousand shekels in compensation as part of the lawsuit, and their lawyers received 2 million shekels in legal expenses.
