“Globs”: Alliance tire plant in Hadera under threat of closure

The Alliance tire plant, built in Hadera 75 years ago, is under threat of closure and layoffs of all 450 workers, Globes reports.

The Japanese company Yokohama Rubber, which currently owns the plant, must decide in the coming days on the future of Alliance.

It should be noted that the plant in Hadera produces tires not for cars (these conveyors were moved to India long ago), but for agricultural, industrial, and construction equipment.

The plant’s products are exported to 120 countries, but due to the Yemeni Houthi blockade of the Red Sea route and the high cost of labor in Israel, the Japanese corporation is considering moving the remaining production from Israel.
