Bluebell tree loses leaves and buds

Maintain health

Garden expert Hubertus Lederleitner suspects that impermeable soil has led to a weakening of the bluebell tree, “making it more susceptible to Pests became. That is why there is now a gradual spread of pests, which leads to the death of the tree from the inside and the peeling of the bark. The soil does not necessarily have to be too dense, it can also be due to dryness, as the shedding of leaves occurs mainly in summer. I would therefore rule out soil that is too moist.”

Cut back slightly

The expert recommends creating optimal conditions: “It is best to treat the tree with special tree fertilizer fertilize and sufficient water. The dead shoots should be cut out right down to the green wood. You can also easily build the tree in its entirety cut backso that it grows vital again. Unfortunately, you cannot reverse the peeling of the bark, you can only try to prevent further die-off.”

Bluebell trees are pioneer trees and therefore grow quickly, but are not very long-lived (50 to 70 years) compared to other tree species. This lifespan is shorter in unfavorable locations.
