Sonaca Aircraft goes into voluntary liquidation

Sonaca Aircraft has decided to go into voluntary liquidation. L’Echo writes this on Friday. The aircraft manufacturer, a subsidiary of the Walloon group Sonaca, cannot guarantee its financial viability.

Sonaca produces parts for the aerospace industry. The Sonaca Aircraft subsidiary was founded in 2016 to produce a complete aircraft itself.

In 2022, the company decided to stop production of its Sonaca 200 (S200) at its factory in Temploux, near Namur. Ultimately, 57 examples of the two-seat training and tourism aircraft were delivered.

After production was stopped, only after-sales service was continued, but this also ultimately proved to be too expensive. Parent company Sonaca has therefore decided to stop that activity as well.

That decision will not result in layoffs, as no one works at Sonaca Aircraft anymore. The last employees responsible for after-sales service had already been transferred to other departments within the group.
