Cat Bi Airport has an additional cargo terminal

Cat Bi International Airport’s cargo terminal has a total investment of 724 billion VND, capacity of 100,000 tons of cargo per year and the ability to expand 2.5 times.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the cargo terminal construction project of Cat Bi International Airport was recently held by Vietnam Airports Corporation in Hai Phong on November 16.

The project has a total investment of 724 billion VND, a capacity of 100,000 tons of goods per year and a synchronous technical infrastructure system, capable of expanding to 250,000 tons of goods, expected to be completed and put into operation. exploitation in January 2026.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People’s Committee, said that the event marked a good start for Vietnam Airports Corporation to continue to urgently deploy investment in projects. Other projects such as: Passenger Terminal T2 construction project, aircraft apron expansion project. Thereby, gradually concretizing the Government’s goals and decisions on air transport development planning, contributing to the successful implementation of Resolution No. 4 of the Politburo on city construction and development. Hai Phong until 2030, vision 2045.

Leaders of Hai Phong City People’s Committee committed to support, create favorable conditions, and quickly resolve procedures and problems arising during the investment process of projects in the city in general and projects of the Port Corporation. Vietnam Airlines in particular so that projects can soon be deployed, completed and put into operation to ensure progress and investment efficiency.

Cat Bi International Airport is located in Hai An district, 8 km from Hai Phong city center, convenient for civil aviation activities. The port was built during the French colonial period and then closed for a long time. By 1985, Cat Bi reopened but its passenger transport capacity did not meet the economic development speed of the large coastal city.

This is one of the important international airports in Vietnam, playing a major role in the socio-economic development strategy of Hai Phong city, the Northern coastal region and the Red River Delta regions.
