Fox News: Trump Elects Bitcoin Czar

According to the news channel Fox Business News, the president-elect of the United States Donald Trump is appointing a former CFTC director Chris Giancarlon as a “cryptocurrency czar”. The position has not previously been held in the United States administration.

According to the news channel, Trump got the idea after meeting leaders of the crypto industry. Trump aims to create a presidential advisory council to guide cryptocurrency-friendly legislation.

Trump’s positive attitude towards cryptocurrencies has especially caused the price of bitcoin to rise sharply. On Thursday, the price of Bitcoin already exceeded 99,000 dollars.

Trump has said that he will make the United States the “crypto capital” of the world and that he supports the implementation of positive regulation for the industry.

Trump has also said that the United States should no longer sell cryptocurrencies it has seized from criminals. As Trump’s new administration has begun to be assembled, there has even been speculation as to whether the United States under Trump would be willing to buy more bitcoins for the government’s balance sheet.

In the derivatives market, Bitcoin futures prices have already exceeded $100,000.

On Tuesday, Wall Street also opened trading for a new type of bitcoin investment, when Nasdaq started trading with options on IBIT, the popular bitcoin spot ETF of asset management giant Blackrock.
