A court in Geneva rejected the request of Israeli businessman Benny Steinmatz to overturn the sentence in which he was sentenced to 3 years in prison (including a year and a half suspended) for bribing officials in Guinea to obtain mineral rights.
The execution of the sentence was postponed until appeal proceedings were exhausted.
Steinmatz’s lawyers appealed to a higher court and simultaneously filed a motion to overturn the verdict based on new documents that they claim show serious violations by investigative authorities.
