Summit on the maneuver, "possible modifications but covers are needed"

The majority leaders open to some possible changes to the budget law in matters of law enforcement, social and business policies, but only if agreed upon by all and provided with relative economic coverage. The mandate has been entrusted to the Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti to verify whether the financial conditions exist to make corrections to the text of the maneuver, which could concern the exclusion of the police forces from the partial block of turnover in the Public Administration, the introduction of the IRES reward for companies – requested by the employers’ associations – and some measures to support families such as the 500 euro Family Dowry to support the extra-curricular activities of under 14s.

No distortions of the text, therefore, nor proposals that are not shared by everyone. It seems more difficult, it is reported, to find space among the correctives for the confirmation of the reduction from 90 to 70 euros of the Rai license fee also for 2025, advanced by the League with an amendment to the Fiscal Decree but deemed not to be a priority by Forza Italia. But also the increase in minimum pensions from 617 to 621 euros requested by the Azzurri instead. The basic structure of the text remains support for medium-low incomes through the stabilization of the tax wedge cut up to 40 thousand euros.

The summit between the leaders of the coalition, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the two deputies Matteo Salvini and Antonio Tajani, and the leader of us moderates Maurizio Lupi, with the participation of the owner of the Mef Giorgetti, was surrounded by the strictest secrecy. The press room of Palazzo Chigi remained open, but the protagonists of the summit appear to have been elsewhere. It is hypothesized that the meeting may have taken place in the home of one of the participants, perhaps at the home of the prime minister. Among the rumors is also that of a video conference.

Palazzo Chigi speaks of a “profitable” meeting in which “the full sharing of views was found in support of a maneuver which, in continuity with the two previous ones, looks at the needs of the healthcare system, families, workers and the productive fabric”. The Government makes it known that it intends to “listen carefully to the improvement proposals that will come from Parliament, always in compliance with a serious budget law and with due attention to public finances, which still have to face the very serious damage caused by the super bonuswhich in 2025 will burden the state coffers more than the entire budget”.

Over 200 highly reported amendments to the budget law have been indicated by political forces. Among these, the majority’s proposals stand out to change the rule that introduces MEF auditors into companies that receive state subsidies above 100 thousand euros, to review the taxation on cryptocurrency profits – which in the text of the maneuver goes from 26 to 42% – and on a greater revaluation of minimum pensions.

At the end of the meeting, the center-right leaders gave Giorgetti a mandate to evaluate, in light of the necessary coverage, the feasibility of some proposed changes “shared by all the political forces of the majority”, in particular relating “to the police , social policies and productive sectors”.
