Bus drivers return to strike this Thursday and Friday to ask for early retirement

Los bus drivers from all over Spain stop again this Thursday and this Friday to continue their fight demanding early retirement in the sector. This November 28 and 29, urban, intercity and state bus drivers will begin a new general strike with minimum services that have been set at 50% at the state level, Europa Press reports.

According to the resolution of minimum services of the Ministry of Transport and Urban Mobility, 50% of the currently authorized shipments must be carried out. If it is a route made up of a single expedition, it will be carried out in its entirety.

The main companies that provide long-distance bus services will contact the ticket holders whose service has had to be suspended, offering them the free change.

This is the second day of a total of seven days called, after the one that took place on October 28. November 11 was also scheduled but was canceled due to the effects of DANA.

On this occasion, it is supported by CCOOwith more than 40% representation in the sector, as well as by CGTafter UGT y SLT have withdrawn from the call after having signed with the employers’ associations Confebus, Anetra and Atuc a commitment to request early retirement from administrations once a royal decree comes into force.

For CCOO, this commitment is not enough, since the date has been linked to the approval of that royal decree, foreseeably in February, but it could be later. The union also argues that in the rest of the transportation sectors, such as trucking, the commitment was to request it within a period of 20 days.

The autonomous communities and city councils have also established the minimum services in their respective regions. For example, in Catalonia will be 40% at peak times and 20% the rest, while in Madrid Intercity buses will have 80% of their services in peak hours and 45% in off-peak hours.

Likewise, in Cantabria they will be 30%, in Navarra 40% and in Gran Canaria 50%. As for cities, for example in Palma they will be 50%, in Pamplona 60% in peak hours and 40% in off-peak hours, and in Mérida 50%.

After this Thursday and Friday, the strike will return on December 5 and 9, and from December 23 indefinitely if an agreement between unions and employers is not reached beforehand.
