The Ministry of Construction has announced the start date for registration for the ninth lottery of the state subsidized housing program “Discounted Apartment” (“Dirah B’Anacha”): registration will open on the first evening of Hanukkah on December 25 and will last until January 21.
The ninth lottery will give away approximately 4,000 apartments in 15 locations, including Be’er Sheva, Jerusalem, Yehud Monoson, Nof HaGalil, Ofakim, Nazareth and, for the first time, Umm el-Fahm. The exact number of projects and cities will be published when the lottery opens.
20% of apartments are allocated for reservists. The right to participate in the lottery is available to persons who do not have their own home with a valid benefit certificate (“teudat zakaut”).
Those who meet the criteria for receiving benefits, but do not yet have a benefit certificate, will be able to obtain certificates of eligibility for participation in the lottery until January 9. The certificate can be issued online through the companies “Alonim”, “Milgam” and “Maof”, the registration period takes up to 10 days. The cost of obtaining a certificate is 200 shekels, renewal of the certificate will cost 50 shekels.
