In November, Finnair carried 892,700 passengers, which was 9.9 percent more than in November 2023. This can be seen from the November traffic data published by the company.
The total capacity, measured in passenger kilometers (ASK) offered, increased in November by 5.6 percent from the comparison period, because the narrow-body aircraft leased to British Airways were now in own use after their lease ended in March 2024.
In addition, the capacity of Middle East traffic increased clearly. The passenger utilization rate increased by 2.9 percentage points and was 73.9 percent.
The supply of Asian traffic decreased by 2.4 percent from the comparison period. The supply of North American traffic decreased by 8.0 percent, due to fewer flights on the Los Angeles and Miami routes.
European traffic capacity increased
Finnair’s European traffic capacity increased by 13.6 percent, as most of the additional capacity of narrow-body aircraft was allocated to Northern Europe. Capacity in the Middle East increased by 11.4 percent thanks to additional routes to Dubai and Doha. The supply of domestic traffic increased by 21.9 percent, because additional capacity was allocated to northern traffic a little earlier than in the comparison period.
Passenger kilometers sold increased by 9.9 percent in Asian traffic compared to the comparison period. In North American traffic, they decreased by 0.4 percent. Passenger kilometers sold increased by 9.5 percent in European traffic, 18.5 percent in Middle Eastern traffic and 17.0 percent in domestic traffic.
In November, the passenger utilization rate was 80.1 percent in Asian traffic, 69.0 percent in North American traffic, 71.1 percent in European traffic, 73.0 percent in Middle Eastern traffic and 63.0 percent in domestic traffic.
According to Finnair’s press release, passenger numbers increased from the comparison period by 9.6 percent in Asian traffic, 0.6 percent in North American traffic, 9.3 percent in European traffic, 18.4 percent in Middle Eastern traffic and 11.6 percent in domestic traffic.
Total freight and mail tons increased by 8.7 percent from the comparison period. The freight tonne kilometers sold increased by 4.3 percent.
