“A destruction of our profession”: taxis in Puy-de-Dôme say they are threatened by the reform of medical transport

“I did not go to demonstrate this Monday because I had to transport patients, but I am 100% supportive. » Philippe Bru, a taxi driver based in Riom near Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme), is not upset. Ten years ago, this sixty-year-old created his own business. But today, if he had to do it again, for sure, he wouldn’t do it again.

“At first, I was alone. Then I developed my business. My 38-year-old son joined me eight years ago. I even had two employees who I had to lay off after Covid. I thought the trials were behind me, but this reform is an earthquake! » deplores Philippe Bru, vice-president of the Federation of Independent Taxis of Puy-de-Dôme (FTI 63).
