in Finland the value of new orders in industry was 12.8 percent higher in October than a year earlier at the same time, says Statistics Finland.
The value of new orders increased in all the main branches of industry examined. There was especially growth in the metal industry and the chemical industry.
In the metal industry, the value of orders was 15.5 percent and in the chemical industry 14.8 percent higher than a year ago. In the paper industry, the value of orders increased by 4.2 percent.
According to Statistics Finland, the last time new orders increased in all main industries compared to a year ago two years ago, i.e. in October 2022.
On the other hand, looking at the beginning of the year, i.e. January–October, the value of new orders in industry decreased by 4.1 percent compared to the previous year.
In October growth was also seen in industrial production. Statistics Finland tellsthat industrial production in Finland grew by less than one percent both from the previous month and compared to the same time a year ago.
On a monthly basis, the driver of growth was the mining and quarrying industry, where seasonally adjusted production increased by 15.2 percent compared to September. The next largest increase in production was in the chemical industry, 6.2 percent.
On the other hand, production decreased the most in the electrical and electronics industry, where the drop was 4.3 percent from the previous month.
In other main industries, production fell by less than one percent compared to September. Production decreased in the food industry by 0.8 percent, in the metal industry by 0.6 percent and in the forest industry by 0.3 percent.
