The maneuver’s arrival in the courtroom is postponed. There is still a stalemate over the filing of government amendments

We will have to wait until next week for the maneuver to arrive in the Chamber of Deputies, the Budget Commission is still deadlocked on filing the government’s amendments, with the opposition asking for clarifications with the technical reports and calling for the presence of the Minister of Economy at the works. “Giorgetti should take responsibility for having rewritten a maneuver that doesn’t work. A total upheaval is being announced, the announced amendments are practically worth at least a third of the budget law, that maneuver no longer exists”, urges PD group leader Chiara Braga.

Nor does the controversy over the rapporteurs’ amendment subside which equates the compensation of unelected ministers, deputies and undersecretaries to those of government members who are also parliamentarians. A measure that costs 1.3 million for 2025 and would concern, Il Sole 24 Ore estimates, 17 members of the current executive. The calendar approved by the conference of group leaders has therefore been postponed, which envisaged the start of the analysis of the budget law in the Montecitorio Chamber on Monday afternoon. December 16, however, will still be entirely dedicated to the analysis of the government’s amendments and the rapporteurs in the Commission, with the mandate to the rapporteurs expected to arrive on Tuesday morning before Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s communications to the Chamber in view of the European Council.

“Normal process, there is a debate in Parliament, it is right that it should be like this: the maneuver will be approved within the expected time frame”reassures the deputy prime minister and leader of Forza Italia Antonio Tajani. Who then comments: “I believe it is right that a non-parliamentary minister has the same allowance as a minister who is a parliamentarian.” Even if the text is not official, the government’s amendments are those that have been awaited for weeks. Among the other corrective measures that the government will apply, a family dowry fund, financed with 30 million euros in 2025, to be used for extra-curricular activities of dependent children, aged between 6 and 14, of families with an income with ISEE equal to or less than 15,000 euros. For 2025, a contribution is granted – with a total allocation of 50 million euros for 2025 – for the purchase of highly energy efficient household appliances not lower than the new class B, produced in Europe, with simultaneous disposal of the replaced appliance.

The bonus can be granted for an amount not exceeding 100 euros, increased to 200 if the ISEE of the buyer’s household is less than 25,000 euros. Municipalities, on the other hand, according to a reformulation by Forza Italia, can subject applications for recognition of Italian citizenship to the payment of an administrative fee not exceeding 600 euros for requests for iure sanguinis citizenship. The opposition rejects the government’s actions. “A split majority and a government in disarray are rewriting the budget law while arguing over useless bonuses and bribes to be distributed among the few resources made available in the budget”, comments the secretary of Più Europa Riccardo Magi.
