Mexicans will spend 20.3% more on gifts this year

In this year’s Christmas season, families plan to spend an average of 3,795 pesos for each member, an amount that represents an increase of 20.13 percent compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from the comparison specialist firm Casino.

According to the survey, Mexican households will spend more money on Christmas gifts for each member, since last year the average figure was 3,159 pesos.

The analysis indicates that Mexicans are not only willing to spend more on the 2024 holidays, but that at least 8 percent of the population will leave the purchase of Christmas gifts until the last minute.

The firm indicated that this figure showed an advance of 3 percentage points compared to the same season in 2023.

He added that 36 percent of Mexicans took advantage of the Black Friday, El Buen Fin and Cyber ​​Monday promotions to purchase Christmas gifts, 5 percentage points less than last year.

The survey showed that men do Christmas shopping in 74 percent of cases, and women participate in 15 percent.
