Bitcoin falls 10 percent

Bitcoin fell to $95,234 on Friday. The record price earlier this week was more than $108,000. Smaller crypto coins such as Ether and Dogecoin lost even more ground.

Analysts point to profit-taking and corrections in the very volatile market. Bitcoin also fell in value on Thursday in response to the news that the US central bank will reduce interest rates less sharply next year, which weighs on speculative investments.

The decline does not alter the fact that Bitcoin has risen 50 percent in value since Donald Trump’s election victory. The most famous cryptocurrency in the world relies on Trump’s promises to make the next US president “the crypto capital of the planet”. He also talked about creating a strategic national reserve of bitcoins.
