Who is Carbone, the new director of the Revenue Agency

Born in 1963, lawyer, Vincenzo Carbone is not a new name at the Revenue Agency where he has had a long career holding numerous managerial positions. Currently deputy director and head of the taxpayers division of the Revenue Agency, he will now be General Director: the executive has in fact indicated him as Ruffini’s successor.

The procedure provides that the Council of Ministers, upon proposal of the Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti, pursuant to article 67 of legislative decree no. 300 of 1999, resolves the start of the procedure for the appointment of director of the Revenue Agency.

Carbone entered the financial administration in 1990. In 1999 he won the competition for 162 managers at the Ministry of Finance and from the early 2000s, following the establishment of the tax agencies. In particular, since 2005 he has been at the helm of the Tax Litigation office at the Central Regulations and Litigation Directorate where he will subsequently also take on the role of head of the Registry office; since 2006 he has been head of the Analysis and Research office at the regional directorate of Campania; from 2009 until 2014 he held the role of head of the corporate and financial taxation office at the Lazio regional directorate.

Subsequently, in 2014, he moved to the helm of Provincial Directorates I and II of Rome. The first top position, as central director of Large Taxpayers and International, arrived in 2020. This was followed in 2022 by the appointment as central director of Large Taxpayers and International with the functions of deputy head of the Taxpayers division.

In July 2023, given the experiences and technical knowledge acquired during his long professional career in all areas of operation of the Revenue Agency, he was assigned a new top position for the coordination of activities aimed at implementing the tax reform . In February 2024 he assumed the role of Deputy Director of the Taxpayers Division of the Agency and since October 2024 he has been Deputy Director of the Revenue Agency. He is Commander of Merit of the Italian Republic.
