A curator in the Netherlands will investigate whether a restart of the bankrupt electric cargo bike provider Cargoroo is possible. Co-founder Jaron Borensztajn said this on Tuesday in an explanation of the bankruptcy.
On Tuesday, the court in Amsterdam declared bankruptcy and a curator is expected to be appointed later in the day, Borensztajn reports. According to him, it is difficult to say whether the bicycle sharing provider can make a new start. “I hope there will be a restart, but that is not up to us. The curator will start work this week.” Borensztajn refers, among other things, to the disappointing growth and the difficult investment climate before the bankruptcy.
Cargoroo was active in Antwerp, Leuven and Mechelen. However, those cities were not aware of the bankruptcy. The brand was also active in several Dutch cities, including Utrecht, Amsterdam and The Hague. The bicycles can no longer be reserved, Borensztajn said. In some cities the bicycles have already been removed.
