The format that made the chain popular, with its unlimited vegetables, is no longer popular. Flunch, which had already separated 1,300 employees and around fifty restaurants after the health crisis in 2022, announced in mid-September the closure of four new cafeterias for the end of 2024. A decision which was postponed to the beginning of December for the Mantes-Buchelay and Rosny-sous-Bois establishments.
In Loiret, the 25 employees of the Olivet restaurant (Loiret) are not waiting for a miracle, but rather to know the date on which they will have to give up their aprons: “A priori, it is planned for December 31. It might be a little earlier. But, for the moment, we are welcoming people, the faithful, the nostalgic and a few people passing through,” testifies an employee, who learned the news during the economic and social committee in mid-September. She does not know, at this stage, if the premises will be taken over by another major fast food brand.
One last Flunch in the Loiret
In the parking lot, Bénédicte, who has just finished her Christmas presents, learns, stunned, of the imminent closure of the local brand of the group founded in 1971, unfailingly “linked to this shopping center”, regrets this 77-year-old woman. “That’s something!” It’s been a long time since I went to eat there. In the 1980s, my children, who are now fathers and mothers, loved coming. We were going fluncher – as we said at the time – on Saturday or when we returned from vacation. »
She will, however, be able to take her grandchildren to the neighboring Flunch of Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle (Loiret) whose existence is, to date, not called into question. Also part of the group’s least performing sites, the Cavaillon restaurant (Vaucluse) is also affected by this new austerity treatment.
