Forest industry|The labor court found the company to have violated the collective agreement.
Industrial tribunal has sentenced the forest company Stora Enso to compensation of almost 800,000 euros in a dismissal dispute, which concerned the dismissal of shop stewards at the company’s Veitsiluoto factory. Paperiliitto reports on the matter.
The labor court found the company to have violated the collective agreement because it did not replace the eight shop stewards dismissed from the factory with new positions instead of dismissal.
According to the court, the company violated its obligation to provide work and training when it fired all shop stewards at the factory.
In addition to Stora Enso, the industry’s advocacy organization Metsäteollisuus was sentenced to a restitution fine for breaching the supervisory duty in the case.
