Bitcoin’s record-breaking year

Bitcoin, on this last day of the year, recorded a slight increase, at +0.19%, equal to approximately 93,900 dollars, compared to the rather weak trade at the end of the year. But the world’s most popular cryptocurrency is headed for a 4% weekly decline and its third consecutive weekly decline and first monthly decline since August. Apart from the downsizing of these last remnants of 2024, however, Bitcoin is on its way to a record-breaking yearwith an annual gain of around 120%. The highest price was marked on December 17, when it broke through the ceiling of $108,000.

The cryptocurrency had received a first boost at the beginning of the year, when the US authority that supervises the stock exchange, the SEC, gave the green light to Bitcoin ETFs. But the race accelerated after the electoral victory of Donald Trump, who has always shown a propensity for cryptocurrencies and has said he is in favor of softer regulation in this sector. Several analysts predict an even more positive trend for 2025 for the digital currency, with a doubling in value up to $200,000.
