Air Baltic plans to cancel nearly 4,700 flights from the upcoming summer season

Latvian the national airline Air Baltic will have to cancel thousands of flights during the coming summer season because the maintenance of the aircraft engines is delayed, said a specialist in aviation news Aerotime on Thursday.

The company said in its press release that it intends to cancel a total of 4,670 flights.

Due to the cancellations, 19 routes are not operated at all, and more than 20 routes are flown at reduced intervals. The cancellations will affect the flights of more than 67,000 people.

In Finland, the company is canceling the route between Tampere and Rhodes.

According to the company, several of its Airbus A220-300 planes remain on the ground because engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney has announced that it will not be able to keep up with the maintenance schedule. The airline assures that it strives to find solutions to maintenance problems together with the engine manufacturer.
