“It’s our DNA”: Breton wines are aiming for a first 100% organic IGP in France

In Brittany, France’s leading agricultural region, there is nothing more mundane than seeing cows in the fields. Vines a little less. And yet, with around fifty estates and more than 150 ha, the very young Breton wine industry is making full progress thanks to the release of planting rights in 2016 but also due to global warming.

She also has big ambitions. Supported by the Brittany regional council, the Association of Breton Winegrowers and the Association for the Promotion of Brittany Wines (AVVB) have just initiated the process to obtain a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI). Objective: to have their region and their social and environmental commitments recognized.
