Mixed trend in Asia; Shares of chip companies led the gains

This morning (Tuesday) in Asia, there was a mixed trend in trading: the Nikkei jumped by about 2.1%, the Hang Seng fell by about 2%, the Kospi rose by about 0.2% and the Shanghai Stock Exchange rose by about 0.5%.

The shares of the Japanese chip companies stood out positively during trading, including Tokyo Electron, which rose by about 11%, as well as Lasertech, Ransas Electronics and Adventest, which rose by over 7%. Shares of South Korean Samsung Electronics, a leading supplier of memory chips, rose about 2.5%. The increases came against the background of the rally in technology stocks recorded on Wall Street last night (see review below).

The share of the Japanese steel company Nippon fell by about 1.4%, after the company, together with Yu. American Steel, sued the US government, due to President Joe Biden’s decision to prevent the purchase deal of the American company by the Japanese, in the amount of about 15 billion dollars.

Wall Street

Last night on Wall Street, trading closed in a mixed trend. The Nasdaq rose 1.3%, the S&P 500 added 0.6% and the Dow Jones closed around the base levels.

Chip stocks stood out positively throughout the trading day, among them AMD , Broadcom , Micron and Super Micro Computer . The increases came against the background of the good reports of the Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn – which provides services to clients such as Nvidia and Apple.

Wall Street futures trade this morning with slight price drops.

US debt market

Government bond yields are trading slightly lower this morning. Ten-year bonds are down by one basis point, with a yield of 4.61%; Two-year bonds fall at a similar rate, with a yield of 4.26%.

The global forex market

The dollar weakened against the euro by about 0.1% (about $1.04), and against the pound by about 0.2% (about $1.25); at the same time, the dollar strengthened against the Japanese yen by about 0.1% (about 157.7 yen)

Bitcoin is up about 2.3% this morning and its price is around $101,800. Ethereum rises slightly by about 0.2% and its price is about $3,670.

Oil prices are trading slightly lower this morning. The price of a barrel of the Brent type is about 76.2 dollars and the price of a barrel of the American type is about 73.4 dollars.

The price of gold increases by about 0.3% and stands at about $2,650 per ounce.

Macro

This morning, the consumer price index will be published in France and Germany. At noon today, the consumer price index in the Eurozone and the unemployment rate in Europe are expected to be published.

In the evening, the ISM index will be published in the US, which determines the level of purchasing managers’ orders in the manufacturing sector. In addition, employment data will be published.
