The We Events agency, a reference for reality TV influencers, placed in compulsory liquidation

A page closes for influencers. The influencer agency We Events, founded by entrepreneur Wesley Nakache, was placed in compulsory liquidation by the Nanterre commercial court on December 19. Known to be the great rival of Shauna Events, an agency itself in difficulty, it was placed in safeguard procedure in September in the face of the imminent arrival of financial difficulties deemed “insurmountable”.

Faced with the cessations of payments noted when this procedure was opened, as well as the impossibility of putting a backup plan in place, Wesley Nakache finally requested that his company be placed in receivership. The court granted this request on October 30. Subsequently, a call for tenders was launched.

Liabilities estimated at 4 million euros

Three offers were thus submitted. One by the IF agency, a company specializing in communication and events, another by the now manager of Shauna Events, Stéphane Teboul, husband of Magali Berdah, and a third by Julie Nabet, administrative and financial manager of We Events. Only the last two were finally examined.

The sale prices offered by the two buyers were in the tens of thousands of euros. These offers therefore do not ensure “the sustainability of the activity, the maintenance of employment or the settlement of liabilities under satisfactory conditions”. The placement in compulsory liquidation was therefore ordered by the court.

A competing agency of Shauna Events

Acquired in 2019 by a company owned by television host Arthur, the company We Events specialized in partnerships between brands and reality TV influencers. Figures from these programs, such as Jazz Correia (from “JLC Family”), Hillary Vanderosieren (formerly from “Ch’tis”), Maddy Burciaga (“Who wants to marry my son?”), or even Julia Paredes (“Moms and famous”), were for example represented by this agency.

We Events was also known to be a serious competitor to Shauna Events. Reality TV stars, sometimes unhappy with their pay, moved from one agency to another. The rival company, founded by Magali Berdah and now managed by Stéphane Teboul, is also experiencing financial difficulties, since it was placed in receivership in June 2023. Last October, the “popess of influencers” announced the opening of its agency internationally. A way, according to her, to repay Shauna Events’ debts.

When contacted, the founder of We Events, Wesley Nakache, was not immediately available.
