Neste to cooperate with Bayer – The goal is to diversify the raw material base with vegetable oils

Oil refiner In this and the Bayer Group have signed a letter of intent with the aim of developing the fall rapeseed ecosystem in the United States. The cooperation includes, among other things, the identification of partners, the development of the value chain, and the expansion of autumn rapeseed production as a raw material for renewable products.

“Even though Neste focuses strongly on waste and residual raw materials, it also actively researches and develops other renewable raw materials, such as vegetable oils produced with renewable farming methods. The goal of using innovative farming methods is to bind carbon to better-conditioned arable land, promote biodiversity and reduce agricultural emissions while improving the productivity of farms,” ​​the release states.

Neste cooperates with value chain partners in several regions worldwide. The cooperation varies from smaller field trials, where the sustainability benefits of selected concepts are studied, to more mature projects, where various innovative farming methods are utilized. The goal is to identify the most promising concepts that can be expanded and that can play an important role in diversifying and increasing the raw material base of Neste’s renewable products.
