Mehiläinen buying Lithuania’s largest health service company

When the deal is completed, Mehiläinen will become the largest private provider of health services in the Baltics.

Health Group Mehiläinen said on Thursday that he had signed an agreement on the purchase of In Medica Group, the largest private health service company in Lithuania. The deal still requires official approval.

According to the release, In Medica Group offers basic healthcare and specialized medical care services, hospital services, dental care, and mental health and diagnostic services in Lithuania. The company serves both the private and public sector and employs more than 3,500 people. Mehiläinen said that the transaction has no direct impact on In Medica Group’s personnel or customers, and the company’s daily operations will continue as normal.

Last year’s turnover of the Lithuanian company is expected to be more than 150 million euros. According to the press release, the company’s previous owners include the Baltic’s leading private equity fund INVL Baltic Sea Growth Fund and healthcare companies AB City and Litgaja.

Expansion into Lithuania is a natural next step in Mehiläinen’s growth strategy, the company said in a press release.

When the deal is completed, Mehiläinen will become the largest private provider of health services in the Baltics.
