“Rafael” lost a large contract to “Elbit” in Romania due to inattention

Four days ago, the Israeli concert “Elbit Maarahot” announced that it had received a contract from NATO for the supply of anti-drone systems worth $60 million.

According to the Haaretz newspaper, we are talking about Romania. The publication’s statement is based on documents from the Romanian court, which heard a lawsuit against the Elbit victory filed by the Israeli state concern Rafael.

According to these documents, Elbit and Rafael reached the final of the tender, beating two competitors from Germany and Italy. One of the conditions of the final round of the tender was the provision of bank guarantees for a period of 140 days. However, Rafael mistakenly submitted a guarantee two weeks shorter than the required period, after which its application was not even considered and Elbit was automatically declared the winner.

Moreover, Rafael did not protest the tender results within 10 days after the announcement of the results, when it had the right to file a protest. As a result, when the state concern did file a protest, the protest was rejected by the court.
