Jordan will spend $5 billion to build one of the world’s largest desalination plants

Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan notified the kingdom’s parliament that it had concluded an agreement with a group of French investors to build a large desalination plant in the Aqaba area on the Red Sea.

The deal is worth more than $5 billion, but once completed, the volume of water supplied to Jordanian households will increase by 60%. The plant is expected to be put into operation in four years.

According to the authorities, this is the largest infrastructure project in the history of the kingdom, in addition to the plant itself, which will be one of the largest in the world, it includes the construction of 445 kilometers of water pipeline.
