The Cybersecurity Center warns of phishing links hidden in search engines

Criminals use the advertising space of search engines to raise their own fake websites to the top of the search, warns Cyber ​​Security Center.

“The ad bought by the criminal goes to the top of the search results before the real results, and clicking on them leads to fraud,” says a special expert Tretyakov soup in the bulletin.

The link in the paid search result takes you to a fake page that looks like an identification service, which is used to fish for bank credentials.

This week, you may have come across a scam website, for example, in the Bing search engine, when searching Traficom’s website. The fake result no longer reached the top of the search on Friday.

Fake ones search results have previously also appeared in the names of other authorities and banks. When scams come to light, the Cyber ​​Security Center and the concerned parties contact the search engines to remove the ads.

Fake phishing pages can always be identified by the wrong web address. You usually get to a phishing page by opening a fake link.

Most often, links are shared in scam emails and messages. Paid search results are a new way for criminals to spread links.

The Cyber ​​Security Center reminds that the address line of the web browser also works as a search engine if you do not enter a complete address.
