Netflix surpasses 300 million subscribers with record revenues

Nearly 19 million new subscriptions acquired during the fourth quarter of 2024: Netflix brought its total subscriptions to 301.6 million in total, consolidating its position as a pioneer and leader in the streaming. The Californian group has recorded strong subscriber growth from 2023 thanks to tightening its password sharing policy among users and to strengthen its live programming, particularly in sports.

For the end-of-year holidays, the platform broadcast live two matches of the professional American football league NFL and a boxing match between the YouTuber and the apprentice boxer Jake Paul and the boxing legend Mike Tyson. He also released the highly anticipated second season of Squid Games on December 26th. But the number of new subscriptions signed up to watch these games or the South Korean phenomenon series “represents only a small minority of the total subscriber acquisition during the quarter,” said Greg Peters, co-chief executive of the company.

Netflix reached $10.2 billion in quarterly revenues, up 16%: $1.9 billion in net profit, results slightly above market expectations.
