Economic projections are maintained after Trump’s arrival

The first expectations survey that was carried out by Citi Mexico after Donald Trump assumed the presidency of the United States kept the main projections for the performance of the Mexican economy this year and the next unchanged.

The Citi Expectations Survey, released yesterday, indicates that the economic growth forecast for 2025 remained at one percent, while for 2026 it remained at 1.6 percent.

This survey is carried out every 15 days among economic analysis areas of national and international banks with a presence in our country, brokerage houses, consulting firms, among other agents in the financial sector. The responses to the latest edition were collected by Citi between Friday, January 17 and yesterday.

Masari Casa de Bolsa and Signum Research are the institutions with the highest growth estimate for this year: 1.8 percent; while the lowest is Banamex, with 0.2 percent.

Projections for the exchange rate also remained unchanged. Specialists anticipate that it will close in 2025 at a level of 20.95 pesos per dollar, and by 2026 they expect it to culminate at 21.49 units per greenback.

According to the survey, estimates for headline inflation towards the end of this year remained unchanged from 15 days ago, at 3.91 percent, while for next year they decreased marginally from 3.80 to 3.77 percent.
