Artificial intelligence from Microsoft should make the work of Flemish civil servants more efficient

The Flemish government will conclude a contract for 10,000 licenses on Copilot, Microsoft’s artificial intelligence platform. A detailed verbal agreement has already been reached during the World Economic Forum in Davos. The contract, which will run for four years, just needs to get the green light from the government. Its value has not been disclosed.

The deal between Microsoft and Flanders is the largest Copilot government contract in Europe to date, Microsoft says. According to the Prime Minister, a contract for both the Flemish and local authorities brings economies of scale and administrative simplification.

It will be worked out step by step where artificial intelligence can help in government services. This will be different for each service, but according to the Diependaele cabinet, there is a lot of automation involved. Copilot should lead to more efficient and faster processing of files.
