Mr. Trump: Microsoft is negotiating to buy tiktok

On January 27, US President Donald Trump confirmed to the press that Microsoft was negotiating to buy Tiktok’s business segment in the US.

“I confirm that it is true. Many parties are interested in Tiktok,” Mr. Trump said. Information Microsoft and Oracle want to buy Tiktok appeared in the media a few days ago.

Earlier, the US President said negotiating with a number of organizations on buying Tiktok. He expected the decision of the fate of this short video app will be released in the next 30 days.

“Let’s see what will happen. Many parties want to buy American Tiktok. Therefore, we can still protect their jobs. China doesn’t participate. We don’t want them to do this,” Mr. Trump Trump, Mr. Trump said on January 27. The US president was excited because “the battle battle will help the parties reach the best agreement”.

Tiktok currently has about 170 million users in the US. This application stopped operating for about 12 hours on January 19, before the ban here took effect. According to the American protection law from applications controlled by foreign competitors (PAFACA), the parent company Bytedance must divest from Tiktok or short video applications will be banned in the US before January 20.

After taking office on January 20, US President Donald Trump signed an order to postpone the implementation of the Tiktok prohibition law within 75 days and allow applications to reopen the app. However, US officials warned that this will prolong the American data risk abuse by Bytedance.

In the US, Tiktok over the past few years should make, continuously set a record of revenue and downloads. In 2023, this is the most downloaded social media application in the US, with 47 million.

Statista data firm said that in 2020, Tiktok’s revenue in the US was 1 billion USD. By 2023, this figure increased to 16 billion USD, according to data of Financial Times. Last year, Mark Zgutowicz – analyst at Benchmark Company estimated Tiktok to achieve $ 10 billion in revenue in the US, out of $ 20-25 billion in global revenue.
