Maker of Valdetectie lamps Nobi is filling up 35 million euros for further development

Nobi, which developed a smart lamp that can detect a fall in the elderly, has raised 35 million euros in a new financing round. With this, the Antwerp tech company, with a factory in Aartselaar, wants to develop “new functions to support the elderly and their care providers”.

With the help of artificial intelligence (AI), the Nobi lamps can detect a fall. In residential care centers, care providers receive a notification when a resident falls and they can quickly come to the rescue: as a result, the elderly remain on the ground for less long, something that increases the risk of complications or death. In addition, the lamps also work preventively: for example, the lighting starts automatically when the elderly get up at night and healthcare providers are informed about “risk behavior”, as stay in the bathroom for a long time.
