The Belgian economy grew by 1.0 percent in 2024. This is evident on Wednesday from a flash raming from the National Bank of Belgium (NBB). It is about the weakest growth in four years.
Economic growth corresponds to the most recent prospects of the NBB, which date from December. The institution then also pushed a growth of 1 percent forward, after a growth of 1.3 percent in 2023. She expects that economic growth will attract slightly this year, to 1.2 percent.
According to the Flashraming, the added value fell by 1 percent in the industry last year. In the construction industry, economic activity increased by 1 percent and in the service sector by 1.3 percent.
In the fourth quarter of last year, the gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.2 percent, the NBB still estimates. It is a delay after four consecutive quarters with 0.3 percent economic growth.
