Minister of Defense Häkkänen: Exports of Finnish Defense Industry in sharp growth

Defense is in a strong boost in Finland, the Minister of Defense Antti Häkkänen stated on Wednesday.

He gave an opening speech at the Secd Day event of the Finnish Defense and Aviation Overdue, the Ministry of Defense reports.

Häkkänen said that in 2024 the value of export licenses for defense equipment rose to about EUR 14 billion. According to him, the figure has more than doubled since 2023.

It tells him that there is very strong demand for Finnish quality and expertise in the world.

In 2023, the value of defense procurement was approximately EUR 1.7 billion. Of these, 733 million were channeled from the Finnish Defense Forces’ domestic partnership companies.

Large equipment acquisitions have created a major network of subcontractors. According to Häkkänen, the National Defense Reform, which will be launched in the next few years, will open up great opportunities for business growth.

He also said that the Finnish Defense Administration and Industry have been strongly networked internationally.

According to him, Finland has acquired more than EUR 100 million in EU funding for the research, development and innovation of defense. He also added that NATO’s future performance-based Diana program has included four Finnish companies.
