Vietnam ranks second in exporting vegetables to China

According to the General Department of Customs of China, in 11 months 2024, China spent more than $ 22.1 billion imported from fruits and vegetables from 10 countries. Thailand led with 6.8 billion USD, down 19.4%. Vietnam is in second place, over 4 billion USD of vegetables, fruits sold to neighboring countries, up 26% over the same period 2023.

Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, General Secretary of the Vietnam Vegetable Association, said that Thailand was difficult due to unfavorable weather, helping China to increase purchases from Vietnam, especially durian. If overcome technical barriers and improve the quality of fresh and frozen products, according to the Vietnam Vegetable Association, Vietnam is likely to lead to the leading turnover of vegetable exports to China this year.

Meanwhile, according to statistics 11 months 2024, Chile – the country led or the second to export vegetables to the billion -dollar market for a decade – only US $ 3.4 billion. Next is the US with 1.1 billion USD, up 18%.

Last year, Vietnamese vegetable and fruit exports to countries reached a record with a turnover of 7.15 billion USD, up 27.6% compared to 2023.
