René Benko in custody: Pick-up conditions in video monitored single cell

At 11.30 a.m. there is lunch that includes an additional soup. Fish is served on Fridays. As René Benko spends his afternoons, little is known about it. Even at 4.30 p.m., the dinner is served – which is similar to the breakfast bread mentioned. If the catering is not enough, prisoners may acquire 150 euros a week for in -house goodies, for example snacks, via the prison account. Benko can also refer to newspapers and magazines, whereby excerpts may be legally withheld from the prisoners.

René Benko is housed in a video monitored single cell with less than ten square meters. He still wears his private clothing and underwear, as is common in custody. However, there is a shower with other inmates. Compared to his noble villa in front of Innsbruck, Benko now has to do without a number of amenities. For example, he now carries out his body hygiene with disposable razors and a simple toothbrush. It is not yet known whether the Signa founder will soon be transferred to a joint cell due to the overcrowding of the detention center.
