Lotus attracts dividends after a top year

The strong growth was expected. The surprise was in the sharp rise in the dividend. Lotus will propose the shareholders’ meeting in May to add 18 euros per share compared to the previous financial year, to arrive at a gross dividend of 76 euros.

The Speculoosakje Biscoff accounts for 56 percent of sales. Lotus sold 20 percent more of it last year. The factories do run at full capacity. This year a volume increase of 10 percent is the highest attainable. If everything goes according to plan, a new factory will open in Thailand in 2026.

Lotus Bakeries sees “prefer no input duties”

If the United States continues with their import duties, that will not have a significant impact on the results of Lotus Bakeries. Yet CEO Jan Boone prefers not to see happening, he says in the margin of the publication of the excellent annual results of the cookie company.

Lotus does not yet say how much extra capacity the new factory will yield. “A nice piece, but we have to wait and see how the efficiency will be in the first years,” says CEO Jan Boone. He says that Lotus remains at least 10 percent with Biscoff in the coming years with Biscoff.

The CEO points out that the company still has room in both Thailand and Belgium and the US to build up if necessary. “But we’re not going to do that reckless.”

Lotus expressed the ambition to end up in the top three most sold cookies in the world. Biscoff is currently in fifth place, says Boone. “We are firmly in the top five and have grown stronger than the numbers three and four.” Mondelez is in first place with Oreo and with the lesser -known chips Ahoy! on two.

Boone does not seem to worry too much about trade tensions in the world. “We are happy that we have local factories for Biscoff. We can produce locally in the US and soon also in Asia. We can deliver tax -free from Thailand there. That is an asset and a piece of a guarantee for input rates for Asia. “

The American market is the most important for the Biscoff cookie and there Lotus has local production. “Canada is becoming an interesting market, but not yet big for us. If there is a tax of 10 percent, that would not have a significant impact on the results of the group, but we would rather not see it. The same applies to Latin America. We would rather not see any levies to Mexico, but that is not a big market for us either. ”
