Chocolate will be more expensive again this year

The more expensive raw material ultimately led to the decreation of chocolate by 25 to 30 percent at the awards price, said Ritter Sport-Austria boss Wolfgang Stöhr on Wednesday at his balance sheet press conference.

Despite the price of the price, the customers remained loyal to Ritter Sport. In Germany, the chocolate producer was able to keep up with market growth in chocolate from six to eight percent and successfully jump on new trends, such as vegan chocolate.

The purely vegetable versions currently make up five percent of the range. With a market share of 40 percent, one is clear number one in the vegan segment. Ritter Sport Austria has a share of 7.2 percent on the overall market.

The hype about the Dubai chocolate is too quickly popped up for the production process at Ritter Sport. However, at the beginning of the year, it was started with a new pistachio chocolate, which is very well received. Stöhr no longer wants to bring a special Dubai chocolate onto the market, the trend is actually “over again”. He prefers to speak of his in -house Amicelli rolls, which will also be available as a blackboard chocolate from May – which could be a hit.

The German family business Ritter Sport has already been working in Austria for 40 years. In the previous year, 11 million plates of Ritter Sport and 18.4 million amicelli rolls were sold to chocolate fans. The increased prices were able to compensate for the slight drop in sales. The overall chocolate market has a volume of around 238 million euros in Germany. Ritter Sport is after Milka (Suchard) and Lindt stable number three on the market. Less package content at the same price is out of the question for him, promised Stöhr.
