X, the former Twitter and now in the hands of billionaire Elon Musk, the US President Donald Trump pays 10 million dollars (9.6 million euros) in compensation because his Twitter account was banned from the platform in 2021. The Wall Street Journal will announce that on Wednesday.
Trump had thrown Trump of the Platform a few hours after the storming of the Capitol in Washington on January 6, 2021. Two years later, Musk became the owner of the platform and Trump received his account, including the millions of followers. In the meantime, Trump launched his own platform, Truth Social. He often posts messages there, but for a much smaller audience.
Trump had filed a case against Twitter and the then CEO Jack Dorsey. In May 2022 he initially caught a bone at a judge in San Francisco. Trump appealed.
Musk
According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump’s lawyers initially considered stopping the procedure without compensation, before they finally decided to reach an amicable settlement with X.
So Musk’s company is now crossing the bridge with compensation. Since the campaign for the presidential elections, Musk has approached Trump and pumped more than 100 million dollars into his campaign. He was rewarded with a post at the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge Department), the Ministry of Public Efficiency.
