Parket wants ex -oplui brugs listed company Weghsteen for criminal court

Has learned from time, the public prosecutor’s office has finished its final claim and the council chamber still has to decide whether it will come to a criminal case.

The public prosecutor of West Flanders only confirms that it concerns five people and a company. However, the time could find out that it concerns Vincent Weghsteen, the former CEO and owner of the listed company, and former director PB, the then wife of Weghsteen is also in suspicion, just like two people from the financial sector: a Belgian who is active in Luxembourg and Switzerland, and a Luxembourger. According to the public prosecutor, they are accused of years of infringements on the Bank Act, abuse of trust with the money from Weghsteen’s customers, forgery and money laundering.

Weird Stone capsized after the National Bank of Belgium as a supervisor for the sector in 2018 had intervened with the listed company. The central bank laid road on the chain, pushed the top to the side and handed over the lead to a commissioner. Later that year the reason became clear: the adoption of numerous criminal breaches. The Bruges public prosecutor leaned over the file. The intention was to have the file treated this week by the council chamber, but various parties asked for additional research. As a result, it will take longer before the council chamber will decide whether there will be a criminal proceedings.
