It is a small advance for the sector of the transport of goods to sail, carried by a few major companies rather based in Brittany. In Charente-Maritime, Venfret so far sold individuals “products transported to sailing, witnesses of an ethical trade and a logistics respectful of the planet”, assures Sylvain Le Bihanic, co-founder of this association created in 2015 .
The food pre -ordered by customers were then recovered directly from the platform by a human chain of volunteers emptying the wedges of Cargos sailboats.
In September 2024, Sylvain Le Bihanic wanted to take a new course by creating his company Le Comptoir d’Iole in La Tremblade, near Royan, and launching its merchant website on January 17. “The vast majority of association was addressed to individuals. There I also work with professionals: shopping groups, organic stores, grocery stores, restaurateurs, etc. Delivery is organized either at home or at the premises of our company, ”adds the manager. The pre -order system is still topical but can be done directly on the online store.
Create regular maritime roads
11 euros for 500 g of Colombia coffee, 4 euros The Dark Chocolate Tablet from Dominican Republic, 87 euros for five liters of Portugal olive oil … These “exceptional products” are currently sent aboard two sailboats Cargos, “Ide Min”, belonging to a Dutch company, and “Avontuur”, of a German company. Around February 13 or 14, “Ide Min” will be stopped in Douarnenez (Finistère) to load empty barrels and then go and get – among others – from Rum to Barbados, Café in Colombia, cocoa in the Dominican Republic …
The distribution then takes place in several ports of the Atlantic coast, such as La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime), Les Sables-d’Olonne, Noirmoutier (Vendée) or Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine). “The objective of our development is to have several sailboats to create regular maritime roads, to offer more destinations and different products. For example, we will be able to sell the tuna of the Azores caught on the line, ”promises Sylvain Le Bihanic. The next pre -orders are scheduled for February 19.
