The profit of the Botanical Gardens plummeted

In 2024, Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden earned nearly 5.1 billion dong, down 40% when revenue went back and increased the cost of construction investment and renovation of cages.

The audited financial statements in 2024 have just released showing that Saigon Zoo and Botanical Company Limited has a turnover of nearly 128 billion dong. This level decreased by 6.5% over the same period and the lowest in the past 2 years. Subtracting the cost of capital, gross profit reached nearly 30.6 billion dong, dropped more than 10%.

Of the total revenue, the ticket sales and combo operations account for more than 89 billion dong. In addition, the Zoo and Botanical Garden also recorded more than 52.6 billion dong of business revenue. In particular, the revenue of refreshments – cuisine accounts for the highest proportion with more than 24.2 billion, followed by games, daily car tickets, train tickets – electric cars …

Financial revenue also retreated nearly half of 1.4 billion. The reason comes from reducing the share of the sharing from cooperating to sell souvenirs and consignment toys.

The company continues not to get caught in loans. Sales cost is also zero. Particularly, enterprise management costs increased by more than 3 billion to nearly 24.8 billion dong.

In total, the Botanical Garden profit after tax nearly 5.1 billion dong, down about 40% compared to the previous year. However, this is the second highest profit since the announcement of information in 2014, after only a record profit of VND 8.4 billion in 2023.

Speak VnExpressDirector Vu Thi Huong Giang said that the profit in 2024 decreased compared to the record level by the Zoo and Botanical Gardens to increase the cost of building new items such as building butterfly garden, repairing, renovating the flora museum ; renovating and repairing some animal barns; renovate the park landscape, upgrade facilities … In addition, in the past year, they celebrated the 160th anniversary of its establishment with many events. Every week, the Zoo and Botanical Gardens also organize animal behaviors to have more experiences for visitors.

“Thanks to the good management of costs and thrifty practice, the regular cost of the Zoo and Botanical Garden in 2024 decreased by 1.4% compared to 2023 in the condition that the organization was more activities before,” Giang added.

By the end of 2024, the total assets of the company reached VND 863.7 billion, accumulated by 7.6% compared to the beginning of the year. In particular, they have more than 58.6 billion dong to the bank and nearly 2.5 billion in cash. The liabilities are around VND 22 billion, most of them are payables.

At the end of the previous year, the Tax Department of District 1 (Ho Chi Minh City) issued a notice of tax debt of Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden as of October 31, more than 846 billion dongs on a total area of ​​158,117 m2. However, the company’s leaders affirmed that they only spent 5,590 m2, which accounted for more than 3.5% of the total area, for business business. The rest of the land is made of barns, park landscapes and public services not for profit purposes.

After that, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City said that it would let the company review and declare details, specifically each area used for business purposes and the area without business purposes. The Department is appraising the rental unit price to have a basis for signing land lease contracts. On that basis, Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department will adjust the land rent for the Zoo.
